Chemical Trade Waste Bund Upgrade at a Beverage Manufacturing Facility, Derrimut VIC

Allied Finishes was engaged to upgrade the flooring and lower walls in the Trade Waste Area at Asahi Beverages' Derrimut facility — one of the most chemically demanding environments on site, routinely exposed to concentrated acid and caustic effluent. The upgrade delivers a floor built to withstand extreme chemical attack while meeting strict hygiene and safety standards.

SCOPE

The project covers 215m² of flooring and around 74m² of vertical wall surfaces coated to 1m high, plus 20 linear metres of new food-grade coving. Works included full diamond grinding and patching of the existing substrate ahead of the new coating system.

PROJECT DETAILS

The Trade Waste Area handles and contains trade waste for the facility, with routine exposure to 72% sulphuric acid and caustic solutions — conditions that demand an exceptionally chemical-resistant flooring system. The existing floor had deteriorated and required comprehensive surface preparation before recoating. Allied Finishes specified the SteriFloor Stärke system, self-levelling and finished with two high-performance novolac topcoats, delivering superior resistance to aggressive chemical attack. A light slip-resistant finish was applied to support worker safety during wash-down and clean-out, with coving and vertical wall treatments completing full chemical containment around the area. The result is a floor engineered for one of the toughest environments in the plant, delivered without disrupting the wider facility.
